"At first, some of us wanted to quit… but now, we feel so proud standing on stage together.", said an SNS Choir member.
The SNS Choir has written a beautiful chapter in their musical journey by winning the Silver Award at the Ken Steven International Choral Festival 2025 in the Children’s Choir category. On stage, in front of the five judges from Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, and Indonesia, 29 students from Grade 2 to Grade 7 filled the hall with harmony through their heartfelt performances of Tomorrow, a song from the musical “ANNIE” and Ampar-Ampar Pisang, a joyful Indonesian folk song. With the guidance of their conductor mentor, Miss Efra Meta Nainggolan from Avia Music Centre, the students not only mastered the notes but also discovered courage, discipline, and the joy of singing as one.
The road to this achievement was not always easy. During practice, some students felt discouraged and even considered stepping back, but through the encouragement and motivation of their mentor, they pushed through and grew stronger as a team. For many of them, this was their first experience singing in a choir before such a large audience, an unforgettable milestone that left them feeling proud and accomplished. After this competition, all 29 singers expressed their excitement to continue joining the choir CCA wholeheartedly.

Some audiences commented that the SNS Choir’s performance was uniquely special because it featured a true children’s ensemble, with the inclusion of Grade 2 students showcasing remarkable courage and enthusiasm on stage.
One of the mentors from Santo Nicholas School, Miss Roma, expressed her pride in witnessing the students’ transformation. She shared how rewarding it was to see them grow from feeling discouraged into becoming courageous, proactive, and disciplined students during regular practice. For her, the experience of watching their growth was truly priceless.
