“Remember, this is not our student council. It’s yours.”

On the morning of 22 October 2025, the school auditorium of Santo Nicholas School was transformed into a vibrant stage of student leadership and celebration. The OSIS inauguration ceremony marked the official transition of the student council, welcoming a new generation of leaders with open arms and hopeful hearts. Attended by students, teachers, and staff, the event aimed to honour the outgoing council and empower the newly elected team to begin their journey of service and growth.
The ceremony began with a warm welcome from the school principal, followed by speeches from the outgoing OSIS leaders. Former President Richmond delivered a heartfelt message to his successors, saying, “Take every step back as a challenge and take every opportunity to grow.” His words were echoed by former Vice President Nicholas, who confidently declared, “I am highly certain—no, we are highly certain—that the council is being passed down to very reliable, very able, very responsible, and very sagacious hands in Aldrick and Kyle.”

Newly elected Vice President Kyle took the stage and assured the audience, “Whether it is an opinion or a concern, we will make sure that your voice is heard.” Following his speech, President Aldrick addressed the crowd with sincerity: “We are human, just like you. We will surely make mistakes. But what matters is our promise to be open-minded enough to understand and admit these mistakes—and to improve upon them with your input.”
The atmosphere throughout the ceremony was filled with pride and excitement. Students responded with enthusiasm, showing their support for the new council and appreciation for the outgoing team. The event showcased not only the importance of leadership but also the spirit of collaboration and respect that defines our school community. As the ceremony concluded, the audience was left with a powerful message from Aldrick: “Let’s not just let the time pass this year. Instead, let’s make a better future for ourselves.” With that, the new council stepped into their roles.

One of the most memorable moments of the event was the symbolic passing of the OSIS and school flag. As Grade 10 student Nelson described, “The passing of the flag from the last student council leaders to the new ones was very dramatic and unexpected!” The gesture was met with applause and cheers, symbolising the unity and continuity of student leadership.
Reflecting on the inauguration, it was clear that the event was more than just a formal transition—it was a celebration of student voice and growth. I was deeply moved by the sincerity and passion of the speeches. It was clear that the new council is committed to making a difference, and that the student body is ready to support them. With this shared spirit, the year ahead feels full of promise and possibility.
We extend our deepest appreciation to the organising committee, the outgoing OSIS team, and all students who participated in making this event a success. As the curtain falls on one chapter and rises on another, we are reminded that leadership is not born in silence, but in the echo of shared dreams.
